BIOGRAPHY

I was born in La Paz, Bolivia; my mother tongue is Spanish. Growing up in the US resulted from my father's medical practice, which took place in Chicago, Illinois and Saginaw, Michigan, where I attended elementary and secondary school. I also regard English as a native language, and I finished high school in my hometown at a bilingual school. After finishing high school, I went to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I started studying medicine. After two years, I switched majors and graduated in Analytical Chemistry.

In 1992, I returned to my country. I worked as a Quality Control Supervisor at the Coca-Cola bottling plant in La Paz. Throughout the years, I developed my career across most of the company's departments, particularly in the technical fields of production, maintenance, quality control, operations, and engineering.

In 1999, the Coca-Cola franchise was sold, and the factories were handed over to a British corporation, which resulted in frequent visits from British executives. As I was in charge of the plant's operations and spoke fluent English, I was a liaison between the company's top management and British executives. I performed tasks as an interpreter and translator for meetings and documents. This initial experience as a translator and interpreter lasted approximately five months. And it was crucial for my future decision to make translation my primary activity.

17 years after working for the bottling company, I decided to start my own business: Technical Consulting Ltd. This company and I have interacted extensively in Europe, Asia, and the US. As we provided imported machinery and industrial supplies to the Bolivian industry, I had the great opportunity to travel to Europe and the United States for business. I rely on my native English for business communication (and on my intermediate level of German when visiting Germany).

I am passionate about languages. I've studied German and obtained my "Zertifikat Deutsch als Fremdsprache" certifying my ability to speak and comprehend colloquial German.

In 2010, I was hired as CEO of a bottling plant in my home country, a position I held with complete dedication, passion, and commitment for seven years.

I have been working as a freelance translator in the English-Spanish pair since the beginning of 2018. Due to my scientific background, pharmaceutical companies have contacted me to translate complete pharmaceutical records covering clinical trials, therapeutic actions, pharmacokinetics, and manufacturing procedures from English to Spanish.

Over the past two years, I have also carried out several translations for local and international companies and agencies in the following areas: mining, business, industry, engineering, MTPE, and HT chain editing, and I have also translated audio from phone conversations and short videos. These tasks were performed from Spanish to English or from English to Spanish.

My studies in medicine and chemistry allow me to translate scientific documents easily. Thanks to my industry and entrepreneurship experience, I can easily translate topics related to engineering, industry, technical issues, and business matters.

I am a certified member of ProZ, a site that brings together translators and interpreters from all over the world. I also belong to the pool of pharmacological translators recommended by ProZ.
